Further information
To create his arrangements, Larry Poons used a gridded matrix to plot points according to predetermined mathematical principles. By adhering to mathematical rules, Poons felt he could create a strictly logical painting that bears no trace of the artist. Poons rejected the traditional approach to painting a centralized composition, instead scattering the shapes across the entire canvas to create a sense of movement.
