The subject of Woman with Arm Raised is Alice in Wonderland. The figure's smooth head and limbs contrast the roughness of her hair and dress. Her oversize, uplifted head and raised arm beckon to something unseen. The white color of the figure makes it appear ghostly, like an apparition. Haunting yet poetic, the sculpture gives the viewer a sense of both the astonishment and bewilderment experienced by the storybook Alice while adventuring in Wonderland.
