Further information
Joel Shapiro is known for creating abstract, geometric sculptures composed of simple rectangular shapes. In Untitled, Shapiro encourages viewers to imagine a figure walking down an exterior wall in the sculpture garden. The sculpture casts a dramatic shadow onto the building. Shapiro's artwork often challenges viewers to investigate the distinctions between physical and psychological space.
