Further information
Based in Brooklyn, New York, Leonardo Drew combined 112 discarded bread tins that he collected from the former ButterKrust Bakery in San Antonio to form the underlying grid structure of this sculpture. Metal scraps and junk packed inside the tins draw the viewer in with recognizable things and their reddish-brown color, while at the same time, the sharp, rusty edges present a menacing, even dangerous, surface.
