Further information
The Ambassadeurs was an elegant Paris café-concert on the Champs-Elysées. Entertainer and owner of The Ambassadeurs Aristide Bruant (1851-1923) commissioned Toulouse-Lautrec to desgin this poster. Bruant's characteristic black cape, red scarf, broad-brimmed black hat, and walking stick appear, with his form dominating the poster and conveying the nightclub owner's imposing personality.
