Further information
Untitled is one of a pair of lithographs Jasper Johns created at Gemini G.E.L. in Los Angeles in 1992. At the time, the artist was growing increasingly frustrated with critics and scholars trying, often in vain, to decipher the iconography or meaning of his work. These prints depict a painting turned around so that it cannot be "read" or deciphered easily.
