Further information
In Il Bellerofonte, staged in Venice at the Teatro Novissimo, eight scene changes occurred. The audience was transported from the here-and-now, represented by a backdrop depicting St. Mark's Square in Venice, to the ancient eastern Mediterranean kingdom of Lycea, where the Greek hero Bellerofon, astride the magic horse Pegasus, conquered the monster Chimera.
