From his sketches, Eastman painted multiple views of the Alamo in watercolor, his preferred medium. Eastman recalled the Battle of the Alamo in his journal: "It was in this building that Travis with his small band of Texian were all massacred by the Mexicans during the Texian revolutions -- David Crockett was one of the numbers...This has been the scene of much bloodshed..."
