Further information
Although brown and gray are the two most prominent colors in this painting, a rainbow of hues appears upon closer inspection. The overwhelming warmth of red, tan, and orange is balanced by subtle dabs of purple, white, and blue. Thanks to the artist's distribution of brushstrokes, the dense color field is rendered almost translucent in some areas, seeming to glow from within.
