Further information
One of the first places that Eastman drew in San Antonio was Mission San Jose. Attracted by its ornate facade, carved doors, dome, and tower, Eastman visited the mission numerous times when passing through San Antonio. Eastman may have sought higher ground on the top of the mission's granary to capture this precise view.
