Further information
Amorous adventures take Alban Berg’s red-headed heroine, Lulu, from the gutter to the stage, a mansion, a prison, and back to the street again. In the process, Lulu is responsible for the deaths of five admirers, including Alwa, son of Dr. Schön. Lulu marries Alwa, and they live in luxury in Paris until they are ruined financially. The couple moves to London, where Lulu becomes a prostitute. Alwa is killed by one of her clients, the African Prince.
