Middle Tennessee produced pork, corn, whiskey, and hides for sale in New Orleans. Before steamboats, crews sold their goods and flatboats in the port before making the two to three week wagon journey back north via the Natchez Trace, a 440 mile trail between Natchez, Mississippi and Nashville, Tennessee.
