Further information
Mérida was director of the School of Dance at the Ministry of Public Education in Mexico City from 1932-35. He invited American choreographer Anna Sokolow to Mexico City in 1939, where she premiered Carmen (choreographed to music by Georges Bizet) in 1944. It is possible that Mérida’s design is for that production.
