Gift of Robert L. B. Tobin
Musical with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, music by Leonard Bernstein, and libretto by Arthur Laurents. Produced at the Winter Garden Theatre, New York, 1957.
Smith used exaggerated perspective and deep shadows to create a sense of foreboding for the scene in which the Jets and Sharks "rumble" with fatal consequences.
