Opera-ballet with music by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and choreography by Michel Fokine. Premiered by Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes at the Théâtre National de l’Opéra, Paris, May 24, 1914.

Revived by the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo, 1938. Costumes, based on Gontcharova's original designs, were created by Barbara Karinska, a legendary costumer known as "Madame Karinska."
